Join us for our annual lindy hop festival (20 - 22 March 2026), bringing together classes and socials in the wonderful cosy environment of Cambridge.

This year, we're changing our format to include streams in lindy hop, solo jazz and switching roles in lindy hop, as well as a variety of themed classes. You can build your own festival from this focusing on the skills you want to develop. Whether you're a regular member and attendee of our dance events, or this is your first time in Cambridge, we will do our best to make you feel welcome.

All information on our tickets, levels, teachers, bands and DJs can be found here: https://www.cambridgeswingdance.com/events/swing-sanctuary

Full passes will cost £135, and will include all 3 parties and taught hours: including your chosen stream, plus a talk on the history of swing dance in the UK and 3hrs of taster and themed classes that you can choose on the weekend. Social passes will include all 3 parties and cost £50.

Waitlisting and ticket settings

If the ticket you want is unavailable, you can add yourself to the waiting list, and you'll be automatically emailed if a space becomes free.

Note: when requesting tickets on Dancecloud, you are requesting all of the tickets you ask for, so Dancecloud will only make you an offer of tickets if it can offer you all of them, i.e. it will treat requests for multiple tickets as a group booking. To be fair to everyone on the waiting list, once Dancecloud has sent the email, it will give you a limited amount of time to respond and buy a ticket. See Dancecloud's own information about how this works.

If you're waitlisted, there is a separate section to mention a second stream you would be equally interested in, if that ticket comes up first on the waiting list then you would be moved to that stream.

Financial Access to Dance

For all our tickets, there is an access to dance code that reduces the ticket price to £100 for those who would otherwise find it difficult, or be unable to attend the event. If you need a further discount to be able to attend the event, please contact the Safer Spaces team in advance of tickets going on sale on 1 December 2025.

  • The code for a Full pass is: ACCESSTOSWING
  • The code for a Social pass is: ACCESSTOPARTY

Please read the descriptions of the levels below carefully. Note: All tracks assume you are not new to Lindy Hop itself. A good benchmark is attending your local intermediate classes or above.

Full Pass Stream Descriptions

The following are not levels, but are themed around your current engagement, time and how you approach your dancing, choose what fits you! If you have doubts about which track might be best suited for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Note: timings on dancecloud are not finalised and a full timetable will be emailed out in the information pack closer to the event.

Lindy Hop Challenge

You take your dancing seriously and practise outside of just attending socials and local classes. You attend international workshops, enjoy experimenting and may be familiar with varying rhythms. You want to go beyond just learning new moves and want to be challenged in class - you will take what you've learnt with you and add it to your practice sessions. You may already teach, so expect to see some local teachers in this class!

Lindy Hop Switch

You have had some experience with dancing the other role, perhaps jumping in during class when there are too many dancers of your primary role present, or you’ve found yourself offering switch dances on the social dancefloor. This stream is for everyone who wishes to solidify their switching skills, while also taking a deeper look at different philosophies that factor into dancing both roles. At a smaller local festival, you would consider signing up for the Intermediate tracks in your off-role.

Lindy Hop Engage

You would like to learn new things and pick up fresh perspectives to improve your social dancing and get the most out of each dance. You enjoy going to socials and some local classes and you've attended some festivals but you don't feel the need (or have the time) to keep practising outside of these.

Solo Jazz

You're starting to play with rhythms within your partner dancing and now want to get more comfortable using them in solo. You've been introduced to vernacular jazz moves via routines and solo breakaway. Grooves and rhythms are at the centre of it all! This will be an energetic class with plenty of dancing time and space to find the balance between challenge and acceptance. There will be an emphasis on curiosity, and ultimately feeling more connected to your body, the music, and others in the room.

Safer Spaces
